Day 168 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Persistence in Prayer
“Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”
Luke 18:1
Jesus tells the parable of the widow who kept coming back to the unjust judge — not because the judge was good, but because she wouldn't give up. And Jesus's point is this: if even an unjust judge gives in to persistence, how much more will the heavenly Father, who loves you?
Persistence in prayer isn't an attempt to force God's hand. It's an expression of faith — that you believe He hears, that He cares, that He'll act at the right time. Whoever gives up on praying has, deep down, given up on waiting for God to act.
And there's a beautiful thing persistence does inside you: it shapes you. Every time you come back to the Father with the same request, you learn to depend on Him. You learn that the problem is smaller than the God you're seeking.
If you're tired of asking for the same thing — keep going. Not because God hasn't heard you, but because persistence itself is an act of faith that transforms your heart while you wait.
Prayer
Father, don't let me give up on prayer. Give me the widow's perseverance and the assurance that You hear me. Amen.
