Day 167Closer to God — 365 Days

The One Who Teaches

The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things.

John 14:26

You're not alone when you open the Bible. That's one of the most beautiful gifts Jesus left us: the Holy Spirit, who lives in you, who is your personal teacher.

When you don't understand a passage, when a text seems closed off, when you read and find nothing for your day — you can ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes. And He does. Not loudly, but quietly and precisely: a phrase that suddenly shines, a detail you'd never noticed before, an application that seems tailor-made for your moment.

This turns reading the Bible from an intellectual exercise into a living conversation. You're not just trying to understand an ancient text — you're listening to a voice that speaks to you today.

So the next time you open the Scriptures, start with this simple invitation: "Holy Spirit, teach me." Then read with the expectation that something will speak to your heart.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, be my teacher today. Open my eyes to see what I need to see in the Word. Speak to me. Amen.
