Day 165Closer to God — 365 Days

The Word That Never Returns Empty

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void.

Isaiah 55:11

Have you ever read the Bible and felt like nothing happened? Like the words were beautiful, but stayed on the page? Have you wondered if it was even worth opening the book that day?

Isaiah brings a guarantee our hearts need to hear: God's Word always accomplishes the purpose for which it was sent. Always. Even when you feel nothing. Even when it seems like it didn't sink in. Even when your day was too rushed for you to process it.

It's working. Like rain that falls and makes the seed sprout — even underground, out of sight, silently. The work happens.

That frees you from the pressure to feel something every time you read the Bible. You don't need intense emotion for the Word to act. Just trust what God promised: it does not return empty.

So open the Bible today, even if you're tired. Even if you're distracted. Let the Word in — and trust that God knows what to do with it inside you.

Prayer

God, thank You that Your Word is at work even when I don't notice it. May it accomplish in me everything You have purposed. Amen.
