Day 164 — Closer to God — 365 Days
The Closed Room
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret.”
Matthew 6:6
Jesus isn't necessarily talking about a physical room. He's talking about an encounter that happens alone — you and God, no audience, no performance, no one's eyes on you to impress.
When prayer becomes too public, it turns into a show. When it's intimate, it becomes an encounter. And God loves the encounter.
There's something precious about private silence with God. In that moment when no one is watching, when you don't have to use the right words or seem spiritual, when you simply show up — with a messy heart, or a heart full of gratitude, or one that's completely empty. God is there.
And Jesus's promise is clear: the Father who sees in secret will reward you. No audience needed. No spiritual likes needed. The reward is Him — and nothing in this world compares to that.
Have you been having those alone moments with God? They can be five minutes in the morning or two minutes before you fall asleep. What matters is the intention: just you and Him.
Prayer
Lord, I want this secret meeting with You. Teach me to step away from the noise and find You in the silence — every day. Amen.
