Day 161 — Closer to God — 365 Days
The Book That Cuts
“The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword.”
Hebrews 4:12
The Bible isn't a self-help book. It isn't a manual of good manners. It's a living book — which means that when you read it, something happens inside you.
Sometimes the Word comforts. Other times it cuts — it reaches a place we'd rather not touch, presses on a wound that had scabbed over, reveals something we didn't want to see in ourselves.
That can be uncomfortable. But it's a grace. Because the scalpel in a skilled doctor's hand doesn't harm — it heals. And God's Word, when it goes deep, isn't there to destroy. It's there to heal, to set free, to give life where there was death.
Don't be afraid to read the Bible asking it to truly speak to you. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes. And when something touches your heart — a phrase, a word, a verse — stop there. That's the place where God wants to talk with you today.
Prayer
Lord, may Your Word reach me today right where I need it most. Don't leave me on the surface — speak to the depths of my heart. Amen.
