Day 153 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Anchored in Love
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,”
Ephesians 3:17
Paul prays that believers would be rooted and grounded in love. These are words of structure, of foundation — like the roots of a tree, like the foundation of a house.
The love of God is not a feeling reserved for good days. It's the foundation on which the whole Christian life is built.
When you are rooted in the love of God, storms don't knock you down. Not because the storm stops being real — but because what holds you up goes deeper than it can reach. The roots are where the storm cannot go.
As we close this month on the love and grace of God, the greatest prayer is that it wouldn't stay just knowledge about Him — but become a reality rooted in you. That when the next month begins, when the next difficulty appears, when guilt or fear come knocking, your roots will already be planted in a place that does not move.
You were loved yesterday, you are loved today, and you will be loved forever. Stay rooted in that.
Prayer
Lord, may Your love be my deepest root and my most solid foundation. May every truth from this month not stay in my mind, but sink down into the depths of my being. Rooted in You. Amen.
