Day 151Closer to God — 365 Days

The Grace That Teaches

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Titus 2:11-12

Grace isn't just what saves us — it's what shapes us. Paul says the grace of God teaches. It plays an active role in our transformation.

That's different from the idea that you need to discipline yourself alone, grit your teeth, clench your fists, and conquer your habits through sheer personal willpower. The grace of God is the teacher in this process.

It shows you what needs to change — not with condemnation, but with clarity. It gives you the motivation to change — not out of fear of punishment, but out of love for God. And it sustains you through the process — it doesn't abandon you when you stumble.

Today, instead of treating holiness as a lonely, exhausting effort, invite grace to teach. Tell God: show me what needs to change and give me the strength to change it.

Grace doesn't just forgive the past — it builds the future.

Prayer

Lord, may Your grace not only be the beginning of my journey, but what shapes me every day. Teach me, transform me, sustain me. Amen.
