Day 140Closer to God — 365 Days

A Love That Covers All

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

1 Peter 4:8

Peter wasn't talking about hiding mistakes or pretending everything is fine. He was talking about a love that is greater than our failures — that doesn't keep score of offenses, that holds no grudges, that would rather cover than expose.

That is God's love for you. Not a love that closes its eyes to who you are — but one that sees everything, knows everything, and still chooses to cover with grace.

And more: this is the love God wants you to practice with the people around you. A love that doesn't turn every mistake into evidence for judgment. That covers, that protects, that gives a new chance.

Sometimes we manage to believe God loves like this, but doubt that anyone else could love like this. Or that we ourselves could love like this.

But the love you receive is the love you learn to give. The more you experience God's love, the more it flows from you into the world.

Prayer

Lord, may the love that covers me also flow from me to those I love. Teach me to love with grace, as You have loved me. Amen.
