Day 131 — Closer to God — 365 Days
A Love That Proves Its Authenticity
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8
Love is easy to say. Hard to prove — especially when the other person doesn't deserve it.
This verse holds one of the most striking truths of the Christian faith: God didn't wait for you to be good before showing love. He showed it while you were still far away. While we were yet sinners — still wrong, still distant, still not seeking Him.
It's the most backward love there is. The world loves when you reciprocate, when things are going well, when you have something to offer. God loved when you had nothing to offer — and sent His Son into that very condition.
This means God's love isn't a reaction to what you do. It's not a prize. It's a decision, an initiative, a choice that came from within Him before any move on your part.
And that same love is over you today. No matter how you're doing. No matter what you did yesterday. The love that sent Christ is still over you.
Prayer
Lord, may I never think that Your love depends on me deserving it. You loved first, and that changes everything. Thank You for a love that doesn't wait. Amen.
