Day 132 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Saved Not by Works
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,”
Titus 3:5
You probably know someone who tries to earn God's love through works. Who piles up church activities, compares themselves to other Christians, carries a mental list of what they've done and what they've failed to do.
Maybe that someone is you.
But Paul writes to Titus with great clarity: it is not by works of righteousness which we have done. Not by a record of good deeds. It's by His mercy. By what He did, not by what you did.
This doesn't mean works don't matter — they're the fruit of a transformed life, and they matter a great deal. But they're not the foundation of your salvation, your belonging, your standing before God.
You can rest in this today. There's no checklist you need to complete to be loved by God. Mercy has already done the work that no deed ever could.
Live from love — not in search of it.
Prayer
God, free me from the trap of trying to earn what You've already given me. May I live from the place of a beloved child, not someone trying to prove they're worthy. Amen.
