Day 129Closer to God — 365 Days

Like a Father with His Children

Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

Psalm 103:13

This image is powerful: a father who has compassion on his children. Not one who judges, not one who demands, not one who compares — one who has compassion. Who understands the frailty, the limitations, the stumbles.

A good father knows his child will fall while learning to walk. He doesn't scold the child for falling — he kneels down, holds them up, encourages them. He knows his child's ability and loves them anyway.

God knows you like that. He knows where you come from, what you carry, the scars that shaped who you are. He sees your weakness not as disappointment, but with compassion.

Sometimes we assume God reacts like someone impatient, worn out by our repeated failures. But this Psalm shows something else: compassion. Like a father.

And if you didn't have a father like that — if this image doesn't bring comfort because the father you had wasn't like this — know that God is the Father you always needed, not the one you may have had.

Prayer

God, thank You for being the Father who has compassion. May I draw near to You without fear, knowing I'll find an embrace, not condemnation. Amen.
