Day 125Closer to God — 365 Days

A Love That Never Ends

I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Jeremiah 31:3

Jeremiah was the prophet of tears. He lived through the hardest of times and watched his people carried into captivity. But in the middle of that disaster, God speaks with tenderness: I have loved thee with an everlasting love.

Everlasting. Before you were born, He already loved you. Before you got it right or got it wrong, the love was already there. It's not a love that begins when things go well for you — it's a love that existed before everything.

And there's something beautiful in the second part: with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. God doesn't push you, doesn't force you, doesn't shame you into coming to Him. He draws you. Like a warming light, like a gentle voice in the silence.

You may have come to God through different paths — through a crisis, a church service, a book, a friend. But know this: it was Him drawing you. With the same everlasting love that existed before you.

That love has no expiration date. It doesn't grow old, doesn't tire, doesn't give up.

Prayer

God, thank You for a love that existed before me and goes beyond what I can understand. May this love be the foundation of everything in my life. Amen.
