Day 117Closer to God — 365 Days

The Strength of the Meek

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:5

Meekness is not weakness. The original Greek word, praus, was used to describe a wild horse that had been tamed — not gelded, not broken, but with its strength directed. A powerful animal that learned to obey.

Being meek, in the biblical sense, means having enough strength that you don't need to prove anything. It's not exploding when provoked, not because you're afraid, but because you're in control. It's the person who could respond with violence and chooses peace instead — that is real strength.

This meekness comes from knowing who you are in God. When you know you are a beloved child, accepted, secure in Him, you don't need to fight for space. You don't need to assert yourself by shouting. You can be meek because you are grounded.

And God says these are the ones who inherit the earth. Not the loudest, not the most aggressive, not the ones who push hardest. The meek.

There is an inheritance reserved for those who learn this quiet strength. An eternal inheritance that goes far beyond any human achievement.

Prayer

Father, teach me the meekness that is strength, not weakness. Let me be so grounded in You that I don't need to prove anything. Amen.
