Day 116 — Closer to God — 365 Days
When the Night Is Long
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
Psalm 30:5b
There are nights that seem eternal. Nights of weeping, of doubt, of pain that doesn't go away with medicine or distraction. You know this kind of night. And it's real.
But the psalmist, who knew these nights well, left something essential on record: joy comes in the morning. It's not a guarantee the problem has vanished. It's a guarantee that God works even in the dark, and the dawn brings what the night could not.
Morning comes. It always comes. It may take a while — sometimes the night lasts for months. But God doesn't leave those who are His in permanent darkness.
If you're in a long night right now, here's what the psalmist learned: hold on. Cry if you need to — God isn't afraid of your tears. But don't give up in the small hours thinking the morning will never come.
It will come. And with it, joy. Not as a reward for suffering — as a free gift from the One who loves you and who works even when you can't see it.
Prayer
Lord, I am in a long night. Let me trust that the joy of morning will come, because You are faithful. Amen.
