Day 113Closer to God — 365 Days

Even Then, I Will Trust

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I confide.

Psalm 27:3

David was pursued, betrayed, and threatened with death by people who should have loved him. And even then — even then — he wrote that he would trust. Not because the situation was good. Because the God he trusted was good.

"Even then" is one of the most courageous expressions in human language. It doesn't deny reality. It faces reality head-on and chooses to trust anyway.

What is your "even then" today? Even though the diagnosis is what it is, even then I trust. Even though the relationship is hard, even then I trust. Even though the plans didn't work out, even then I trust.

This trust isn't naivety. It's a declaration of faith based on who God is, not on what the circumstances show. It's saying: I know the God I'm following, and He is faithful.

You can say "even then" today. And tomorrow. And after that. Because the God who sustained David is the same God who sustains you.

Prayer

Lord, even when war knocks at my door, let me be able to say, "even then I trust." You are greater than any battle. Amen.
