Day 110Closer to God — 365 Days

The Rock That Never Moves

For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

Psalm 18:31

On unstable ground, everyone looks for a rock. Something that won't give way when you step on it, that won't shake when the wind comes, that will still be there tomorrow just as it was yesterday.

God is that rock. Not metaphorically — literally. He is the only foundation that doesn't change with circumstances, with the years, with whatever the world decides to be or not be tomorrow.

Everything else can change. Relationships change. Jobs change. Health changes. The economy changes. People change. But God doesn't change. And that's not cold doctrine — it's the warmest, most comforting thing there is.

When everything around you is shifting, when the ground seems to shake, you have somewhere to plant your feet: on the Rock who is the Lord.

You don't need to find stability within yourself. On the inside, you may also feel shaken. But there's a place to lean on that is steady beyond all understanding.

Stand on the Rock. It holds.

Prayer

God, when everything around me is unstable, let me remember that You are my Rock. In You I find the firm ground I need. Amen.
