39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Verse explanation
This finishes the list begun in the previous verses (height and depth were terms used in the astrology of the time to describe celestial positions) with the chapter’s final conclusion: no dimension of the universe, no power, has the strength to separate anyone from the love of God shown in Christ Jesus.
