12As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

Verse explanation

East and west never meet, no matter how far one travels — unlike north and south, which have an endpoint at the poles. That is why this distance describes a forgiveness that pushes sin off to a place with no way back.
