18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Verse explanation
Unlike the collective temple in chapter 3, here “the temple of the Holy Ghost” is the body of each individual believer. “Bought with a price” uses the language of the slave market — someone paid to set this person free, so she is no longer her own to do whatever she wants with her own body.
