Day 67Strength for Mothers

Praying for Your Children Is Power

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

James 5:16

Do you know the most powerful thing a mother can do for her children? It's not the right school. It's not perfect nutrition. It's not saying the right thing at the right moment. It's prayer.

That's not just a nice saying — it's theology. When you get down on your knees for your child, something happens in the spiritual realm that has no equal in the visible one. You are accessing the power of the God who created the universe and asking Him to move upon the heart of the person you love most.

And notice this: the verse says "availeth much." Not "sometimes." Not "maybe." The prayer of a righteous person — of a woman who lives seeking God — is effective. It moves things.

On the days when you feel there's nothing more you can do for your children, remember: you can still pray. And that is far more than it seems. Never underestimate what God does in answer to a mother's prayers.

Prayer

Father, I believe that my prayer reaches You. Today I intercede for my children by name — watch over them, body, soul, and spirit. Amen.
