Day 78Marriage Devotional

Rejoice in the Love of Your Youth

Rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

Proverbs 5:18b

God didn't create marriage to be a heavy obligation. He created it to be a source of joy. The book of Proverbs speaks of rejoicing with your spouse — not just coexisting, not just tolerating, but rejoicing.

There are marriages that, over time, lose their lightness. Serious life moved in and took the laughter with it, the playfulness, the simple pleasure of being together. If that has happened in your marriage, it isn't irreversible.

Joy can be cultivated. A lighter conversation over dinner. A funny memory you both share. An outing with no agenda. The decision to laugh together instead of sitting in parallel silence.

God wants you to find joy in your marriage. Not as an obligation to look good, but as the fruit of a relationship that is cared for and watered. Today, look for a reason to smile with your spouse. It's a way of obeying God — and of caring for what belongs to the two of you.

Prayer

God, thank You for creating marriage to be joy. Restore the lightness to our life together. Help us laugh together, delight in one another, and find joy in the simple things. Amen.
