Day 51Marriage Devotional

Sharpening One Another

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Proverbs 27:17

You grow because of him. It might be uncomfortable to admit, but your spouse sharpens you. In the ways that sometimes sting — when he points out something you don't want to see, when living together exposes habits you'd rather ignore. But also in the good ways — when he encourages you, when he challenges you, when he believes in you even when you don't believe in yourself. A marriage of true partnership isn't just mutual comfort. It's mutual growth. Two pieces of iron that sharpen each other come out keener. Do you let your spouse sharpen you? Do you help him grow too? God placed the two of you in each other's lives not just for company, but for refining. What a beautiful mission.

Prayer

Lord, may our marriage be one of mutual growth. May I let my spouse sharpen me, and may I also be an instrument of growth for him. May we become more like You together. Amen.
