Day 41Marriage Devotional

True Reconciliation

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

Matthew 5:23-24

Jesus places reconciliation above religious offerings. That's a strong statement. He's saying that your devotion means nothing if there's an open wound with the person closest to you. Marriage sometimes piles up misunderstandings that never get resolved because life is busy and we keep putting it off. But God invites you to stop, to go to him, to say what needs to be said — with humility and love. True reconciliation isn't pretending everything's fine. It's looking at one another and saying, "I choose our marriage over being right." That can hurt. But the peace that comes after is real, and God is in it.

Prayer

God, if there's anything unresolved between my spouse and me, give me the courage to go to him. May I value our marriage more than my own pride. May true reconciliation happen between us. Amen.
