Day 34 — Marriage Devotional
Don't Let the Sun Go Down
“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.”
Ephesians 4:26
Sleeping turned away. Each of you on the far edge of the bed. The heavy silence that hurts more than any argument. Have you ever been through a night like that? Paul gives practical, profound advice: don't carry your anger into the next day. Not because you need to pretend you're fine, but because holding onto hurt through the night only lets it grow in the dark. There's a difference between resolving everything before bed — which isn't always possible — and choosing not to go to sleep holding a grudge. Sometimes the best you can do is say: "I'm still hurt, but I love you, and we'll talk calmly tomorrow." That's already gold. Don't let the enemy in through the door of accumulated bitterness. Give the night the peace only God can give.
Prayer
God, before I go to sleep, help me release the anger from my hands. May I not go to bed feeding a grudge, but trusting that You are caring for our marriage even in the middle of conflict. Amen.
