Day 45 — Peace in Place of Anxiety
Do Not Worry About What to Say
“Take no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say... For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.”
Luke 12:11-12
Much of anxiety isn't about the present — it's rehearsing the future. You spend hours imagining that difficult conversation, drafting in your head what you'll say, predicting every response from the other person, suffering in advance for a moment that hasn't even arrived yet. Jesus was speaking of an extreme situation — disciples brought before courts — but the principle applies just as well to your meeting tomorrow, the conversation with your boss, the phone call you dread. "Take no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say." Why? Because the grace for that moment will be given in that moment, not before. The Holy Ghost will teach you "in the same hour." You don't receive tomorrow's words today, and that's why rehearsing the future only produces anguish, not preparation. God commits to giving you what you need exactly when you need it — not a minute before. Today, let go of the script you keep rewriting in your mind. When the hour comes, the help will come with it. Trust that you won't face the conversation you fear alone.
Prayer
Lord, I let go of the future script I keep rehearsing in my mind. I trust that, at the right time, You will give me the words and the calm. Go with me in that moment. Amen.
