Day 35Peace in Place of Anxiety

His Presence Goes With You

My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

Exodus 33:14

Moses stood before a task too big for him, unsure whether he could handle it, and said something very honest to God: if your presence does not go with me, do not carry us up from here. He understood the essential thing — he didn't ask for the easy path, he asked for the company. And God answered with the promise that changes everything: "My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." Notice the connection between the two. Rest doesn't come from the task being small; it comes from you not being alone in it. A large part of your anxiety is the feeling that everything depends on you, that you're carrying the world all by yourself. But you are not going anywhere alone today. God's presence goes with you to work, to the hard conversation, to the appointment, to the house full of demands. And wherever he goes, rest goes with him — not the absence of effort, but the peace of knowing you are accompanied. Today, before you face what frightens you, remember: "I am not going alone. His presence goes with me, and in it there is rest."

Prayer

Lord, I don't want to face anything alone today. Go with me, as You promised. In Your presence is my rest. I trust that You are by my side. Amen.
