Day 9The Proverbs 31 Woman

The kindness that lives on the tongue

She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

Proverbs 31:26

There's a small phrase in this verse that can change the entire climate of your home: "in her tongue is the law of kindness." The wise woman is kind in how she speaks. On an exhausting day, it's easy to let impatience spill out of your mouth — a sharp reply, a cutting criticism, a sigh of contempt. But your words carry power: they can wound or heal, tear down or lift up. How many times has a harsh word of yours, spoken without thinking, left someone hurting for days? And how many times has a gentle word of yours rescued someone who was hanging by a thread? You don't have to be perfect in how you speak — no one is. But ask God to put kindness on your tongue. Before you respond today, breathe and ask yourself: does this build up or tear down? The woman of faith isn't the one who never misspeaks, but the one who lets God soften her heart.

Prayer

Lord, put kindness on my tongue. Guard my mouth from harsh words and teach me to speak with grace. May my words heal, uplift, and bring peace to those who hear me. Amen.
