Day 19 — The Proverbs 31 Woman
A Companion for the Journey
“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
The woman of Proverbs 31 does her husband good "all the days of her life" — she is a companion, a steady presence, a partner on the journey. Whether you're married or not, there's a truth here for you: we were made to walk alongside others, to support one another. Being good company is a rare and precious virtue — standing by someone on the good days, and especially on the days that person falls. "If they fall, the one will lift up his fellow." Think of the people God has placed at your side — a husband, a mother, a friend, a sister — and ask yourself: have I been lifting these people up, or leaving them where they fell? You don't have to be perfect in relationships; you have to be present. And remember: your greatest companion, the One who never abandons you in any fall, is God. Before being good company for someone else, fill yourself with His company first. No one supports others better than someone who is supported by God.
Prayer
Lord, make me a good companion to the people You've placed at my side. Teach me to lift up those who fall instead of judging them. And thank You for being the Companion who never leaves me alone. Amen.
