Day 74 — Young Woman of Faith
Character That Holds Under Pressure
“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”
James 1:12
Character doesn't show up when things are easy. It shows up when things are hard.
Anyone can be generous when they have plenty to spare. Anyone can be patient when nothing is irritating them. Anyone can be honest when there's nothing to lose. What defines you is how you act when the situation demands the opposite of what you're feeling.
Pressure doesn't create who you are — it reveals it. And that can be frightening, but it's also an opportunity. Because every moment of pressure is a chance to practice who you want to become.
Young Daniel purposed in his heart before the pressure ever arrived. Because he knew that, in the moment, it would be too late to decide.
You can do that now. Decide, while things are calm, who you're going to be when things get hard. What values you'll hold onto. What boundaries you'll keep. What faith you'll stand on.
Character that holds under pressure isn't born overnight. It's cultivated, day by day, in the small choices.
Prayer
God, prepare my character for the difficult moments. When pressure comes, may it find a woman who is steady, rooted in You. Amen.
