Day 44 — Young Woman of Faith
The Love That Builds Up
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,”
1 Corinthians 13:4
That whole chapter could be read as a ruler. Not to measure the love you receive from others — but to measure the love you offer. And that reversal changes everything.
The love that builds up is patient with itself and with the other person. No rushing, no pressuring, no "why haven't you changed yet?" It's kind — it speaks the truth, but with care. It doesn't keep record of wrongs — it doesn't hold on to a list of mistakes to use as a weapon when the fight heats up.
This love isn't weak. It demands strength. It demands a choice, every single day. But it's the only kind of love that leaves both people better than it found them. It's the only kind that builds instead of wearing down.
You were made to give and receive this love. Not the love that only works when everything is fine. The love that endures. That grows. That reflects the heart of God — who is the source of all true love.
Prayer
Father, may I learn to love the way You love. With patience, with kindness, without holding grudges. May the love I offer truly build others up. Amen.
