Day 35 — Young Woman of Faith
An Inequality That Hurts
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
2 Corinthians 6:14
This verse can sound harsh at first read. But there's a hidden kindness in it. God isn't saying this to isolate you from the world — He's saying it to protect you from a specific pain: the pain of being deeply bound to someone walking in a completely opposite direction from you.
In dating, this is especially real. When two hearts don't share the same faith, the conflicts don't stay in differences of personality. They settle into the deepest values: how you handle forgiveness, where you seek comfort, what you consider right or wrong, what you dream about for the future.
It's not impossible to love someone different from you. But it's exhausting — and often painful — to build a life with someone who doesn't understand what matters most to you.
You deserve someone who walks with you, not just beside you. Someone who understands when you need to pray, who respects what you believe, who dreams of a horizon similar to yours. That exists. Don't give it up out of pressure or loneliness.
Prayer
Father, guard my heart in matters of the heart. Let me not give up what matters for the pressure of the moment. Direct my steps. Amen.
