Day 31Young Woman of Faith

Guarding the Heart

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Proverbs 4:23

Guarding your heart doesn't mean locking it up with seven keys and never feeling anything again. It's like tending a garden: you choose what comes in, what stays, and what needs to be pulled out by the root. Whatever you feed on the inside will grow — for good or for harm.

When you spend hours staring at the profile of someone who hurt you, you're leaving the door open. When you keep talking to someone who only confuses you, you're watering a plant that shouldn't bloom. Your heart responds to whatever you offer it.

God doesn't want to see you distant from everything out of fear. He wants to see you wise. There's a beautiful difference between shutting down out of fear and protecting yourself out of wisdom. One comes from trauma, the other comes from faith.

Today, look at what has been entering your heart: the songs, the conversations, the thoughts you feed before falling asleep. Not with eyes of judgment, but with eyes of care. You deserve a healthy inner life.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to guard what is Yours within me. Let me learn to recognize what builds up and what destroys. Guard my heart with Your wisdom and Your peace. Amen.
