Gratitude for Faithfulness, Day by Day

Notice what the psalmist does at night: he proclaims God's faithfulness. That's no accident. Morning is the time to celebrate the love that begins the day; night is the time to acknowledge the faithfulness that sustained it to the end. Look back: from sunrise until now, God has not failed you once. He sustained you, walked with you, brought you whole to this hour of rest. That deserves a thank-you before you sleep. Ending the day by proclaiming God's faithfulness trains the heart to trust that tomorrow He will be faithful again. Today, before you close your eyes, acknowledge it: the Lord was faithful today. And He will be tomorrow. Sleep grateful for a God who never fails, who walks with you from morning to night, every day, never growing tired of caring for you.
