Day 24Goodnight, Lord

Gratitude That Opens the Door to Rest

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Psalm 100:4

There's a door that gratitude opens, and through it you enter the presence of God. At night, after a full day, you might just want to collapse into bed. But try, first, entering through the right door: the door of thanksgiving. It doesn't have to be anything grand — a sincere thank-you for the day, for the bed, for being alive, for not having gone through it alone. Gratitude has the power to change your mood before sleep, to shift the focus from what was lacking to Who provided. Whoever enters the night giving thanks enters the presence of God, and there is peace there. Tonight, walk through the door of gratitude. On the other side, rest is waiting for you.

Prayer

Father, I enter Your presence with gratitude. Thank You for this day and for everything good it held. I praise Your name and rest content in You. Amen.
