Day 97Closer to God — 365 Days

Wings Like Eagles

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

The renewal that God offers isn't like the kind that comes from a good night's sleep — though that too is grace. His renewal goes deep. It reaches the place where weariness truly lives: the soul.

But notice the condition: those who wait on the Lord. To wait, in biblical Hebrew, isn't just passive waiting. It's to be intertwined, to lean on, to place your weight upon. It's to trust with your whole body, not just your head.

When you wait on God this way — laying the weight of your life on Him, not trying to hold everything up on your own — something supernatural happens. Strength is renewed. Wings appear.

The eagle doesn't flap its wings the whole time. It spreads them and lets the wind carry it. Maybe that's what God is asking of you today: stop striving so hard, spread your wings, and let the Spirit carry you.

He knows the way. You only need to trust.

Prayer

Father, teach me to truly wait on You — to lay the weight of my life on Your arms. Renew my strength. Amen.
