Day 68 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Come, and Rest
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
Jesus doesn't say, "fix everything and then come." He says, "come, you who are weary." The invitation is for those at the end of their rope — not for those who already have it all together.
How many times have you put off going into God's presence because you first wanted to "feel better," "have more faith," "not be such a mess inside"? But He calls you exactly as you are — the weary one, the burdened one, the one who's been carrying too much for too long.
"Give you rest" — in the Greek, carries the idea of rest for one who has stopped struggling. Like when you finally sit down after an exhausting day and let your body's weight sink into the chair. That's the rest Jesus offers: not a five-step program. A surrender.
Come today. Without fixing anything first. Without having the right words. Come as you are, bring the weight, and let Him do what He promised. He has never turned anyone away.
Prayer
Jesus, I am weary. I have no strength left for today. I come to You as I am, with everything that weighs me down, and I ask for the rest that only You can give. Amen.
