Day 62Closer to God — 365 Days

When Your Heart Races

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Philippians 4:6

Have you ever woken up with a heavy heart, before you even remembered why? That feeling that something is wrong, that the day is going to be hard, that the numbers don't add up, that the people you love aren't okay — it all hits at once, before your first cup of coffee. I know that weight. And God knows it too.

He doesn't say, "stop feeling." He says, "bring it to Me." There's a world of difference in that. Your anxiety isn't sin — it's a sign that you need to anchor yourself somewhere. And the right place is His presence.

Talking to God about what you fear is the first act of faith of the day. Before you solve it, before you plan, before you worry — pray. Place in His hand what you cannot hold on your own. He never grows tired of receiving what you bring Him.

Prayer

Lord, my heart is restless today. I don't know how to fix everything, but I know I can tell You everything. Receive my anxiety with the gentleness only You know how to give. Amen.
