Day 319 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Hope That Does Not Disappoint
“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
Romans 5:5
Have you ever felt ashamed for having hoped? For having believed in something that, at first, didn't come? The human heart knows what disappointment feels like — and sometimes it makes us afraid to hope again.
But Paul says: this hope does not disappoint. Not because it guarantees everything will go the way you want. But because it's tied to a love that never fails.
The love of God is poured out in your heart — not dripped, not measured out drop by drop. Poured out. Abundantly. And it's that love that sustains hope, that keeps it standing even when circumstances don't cooperate.
When you reach the end of a season of waiting and look back, you won't find shame. You'll find God's faithfulness in every step, even the ones that seemed to make no sense. The hope born from God's love never leaves you ashamed.
You can hope. Without fear.
Prayer
God, free me from the fear of being let down. Pour out Your love in my heart and renew in me a courageous hope, unashamed to believe. Amen.
