Day 316 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Eyes on the Unseen
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4:18
Our natural tendency is to believe what our eyes can see. The bank balance that's too low. The medical diagnosis that terrifies. The relationship that seems beyond repair. The future that looks clouded over.
But Paul invites us to train another pair of eyes — the eyes of faith. The ones that see what natural lenses can't capture: God's providence working behind the scenes, promises being fulfilled in the unseen, a love that never fails even when it can't be felt.
This isn't denying reality. It's expanding what you call real. God's reality is more solid than anything physical eyes can touch. What is seen passes away; what is eternal remains.
Train that gaze today. When the visible situation closes in, ask: what is God doing here that I'm not yet seeing? And let hope be born from the answer.
Prayer
God, open my eyes to what is eternal. When the visible frightens me, may I be able to fix my faith on the unseen that You control. Amen.
