Day 310Closer to God — 365 Days

He Is Faithful to the End

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

Hebrews 10:23

There's a reason God is called faithful. It isn't an honorary title, isn't a polite compliment. It is a description of His most essential nature: He does not change, does not go back on His word, does not forget what He promised.

When you hold fast to the confession of your hope, you are not being naive. You are recognizing that the weight of your faith does not rest on your own strength, but on the character of the One who promised.

Think of the promises God has made to you — the silent prayer He heard, the Word that lit up your heart, the peace that came down in a moment of crisis. He didn't promise and forget. Every promise is kept in His eternal memory.

Holding fast to hope is, in practice, reminding God of His own words, like a son or daughter who comes to their father and says: "You promised me this, and I believe You." That is not a lack of faith. It is the purest faith there is.

He is faithful. What was promised will be fulfilled.

Prayer

Faithful Father, thank You that You are not like men, who promise and forget. My hope is anchored in You. Help me hold on firmly, even when the time is long. Amen.
