Day 302 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Gratitude in the Wilderness
“And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness.”
Deuteronomy 8:2a
The people of Israel spent forty years in the wilderness. And God commands them to remember. Why? Because there was provision in the wilderness too — manna every day, water from the rock, sandals that never wore out. Gratitude in the wilderness is different from gratitude in the promised land. In the wilderness, it is purer — because there isn't much to see. It's a gratitude that requires faith to perceive what God is doing when the road hasn't yet come to an end. Are you in a season of wilderness? Then look carefully. The manna is coming. The cloud is leading. God did not abandon His people in the wilderness — and He hasn't abandoned you in yours. And when you cross through, you will look back and see: He was in every step.
Prayer
God, help me to be grateful even in the wilderness. Let me see Your provision even when the road still seems dry. You are here — and that is enough. Amen.
