Day 287Closer to God — 365 Days

With What We Have

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

1 Timothy 6:7-8

There's a lightness that comes when we put life into perspective. We came with empty hands. We will leave with empty hands. In between, we receive so much — food, shelter, air, love, grace. And still, so easily, we look at what we don't have. Paul invites us to a radical simplification: if I have food and covering, I can be content. This isn't a rule to suppress dreams or desires — it's an anchor for the soul in a world that always tries to convince us we need more to be happy. Today, look at what you have. The basics that work. The meal on the table. The roof over your head. There's someone out there praying for what you already have. And God, who gave you all of this, is worthy of gratitude.

Prayer

Lord, may I not spend my life chasing what's missing without stopping to thank You for what I have. You have already given me so much. Thank You. Amen.
