Day 274 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Peace With God, Peace With Others
“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”
Romans 12:18
There's a connection we often don't notice: the peace you have with God and the peace you have with people.
It's not automatic — it doesn't mean that whoever is in conflict is always far from God. But there's a spiritual truth here: when you're at peace with God, it's easier to seek peace with people. When you feel God's forgiveness over you, it's easier to offer forgiveness to someone else.
And the opposite happens too: when you're carrying a lot of hurt, a lot of resentment, a lot of closedness toward people, it starts affecting your spiritual life — prayer grows dry, worship loses its flavor, reading the Bible stops reaching your heart.
That's why Paul connects the two. Peace with everyone — as far as it depends on you. And that peace isn't separate from your peace with God.
Today, is there some relationship where a lack of peace is weighing on you? Bring that weight to God first. Ask that His peace — which surpasses all understanding — guard your heart. And then, whatever depends on you, do it.
Prayer
God, let the peace I receive from You overflow into my relationships. Teach me to seek peace where there's conflict, as far as it depends on me. Amen.
