Day 272Closer to God — 365 Days

Where Love Begins

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1 John 4:7

All true love has the same source. John says love is of God — not invented by us, not produced by our willpower, not the result of our own effort. It comes from God. It descends from God. It flows from God.

When you truly love — when you forgive in the middle of anger, when you serve without expecting anything back, when you stay when it would be easier to leave — you are being a channel for something bigger than yourself.

And that's exactly why, when we don't feel love, the solution isn't to force it. It's to go back to the source. To go to God and say: "I don't have this. But You do. Fill me."

The love that overcomes hurt, that forgives the unforgivable, that endures the unbearable, isn't born in us — it's born in God and passes through us.

You don't need to manufacture love. You need to connect with the One who is love.

Today, before trying to love in your own strength, go to the Father. Spend a moment with Him. Receive. And then go — full of what you received.

Prayer

God, I don't have enough love on my own. Fill me with Your love so I can give what I don't have by myself. Let me be a channel, not a source. Amen.
