Day 254 — Closer to God — 365 Days
One Another's Burdens
“Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2
Paul says that carrying one another's burdens isn't just kindness — it's fulfilling the law of Christ. The law of Christ is love. And love shows itself exactly like this: helping to carry what the other person can't carry alone.
But there's something that has to happen before you can help: you need to see the burden. We need to stop rushing long enough to notice that the person beside us is bent under a weight.
Sometimes the burden isn't visible. It's anxiety. It's grief. It's a marriage that's struggling. It's a child who's a worry. It's an exhaustion that won't go away. These are burdens we don't see unless we pay attention.
And then comes the question: have you been paying attention? In conversations, in silences, in the faces of the people you love?
Carrying someone else's burden doesn't mean solving everything for them. It means being present. Listening without judgment. Praying together. Helping in whatever way you can, with whatever you have to give.
That is community. That is the body of Christ at work. That is real love.
Prayer
Father, open my eyes to see the burdens around me. Give me a heart that's willing and hands that are ready to help carry them. Amen.
