Day 244Closer to God — 365 Days

Eternal Purpose

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

1 John 2:17

Everything we build here has an expiration date. Careers come to an end. Children grow up and leave. Houses grow old. Bodies grow tired. The world we live in is in constant change, and what looks solid today may be dust tomorrow.

But what you do in God's will remains forever. Every prayer you prayed in secret. Every seed of faith you planted in a child. Every act of love done in His name. Every moment you chose the eternal over the immediate.

Those things carry eternal weight. They don't show up on any human résumé. But they're written down somewhere else.

Living with purpose means living with eternity in view. It means asking, in the face of every choice: "Will this last? Does this have eternal value?"

The person who lives like that doesn't waste her days. She invests them.

Prayer

Lord, align my life with what remains. Let me invest in the eternal with every day You give me, without losing myself in what fades away. Amen.
