Day 24Closer to God — 365 Days

The Peace That Doesn't Make Sense

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

There's a peace that doesn't match the circumstances.

You're in the middle of chaos — financial, relational, health-related — and suddenly you feel a calm that shouldn't be there. It's not denial of reality. It's not the absence of pain. It's a presence that goes beyond what reason can explain.

That is the peace of God.

It doesn't come after the problems are solved. It comes in the middle of them, like a guard. A sentinel that protects your heart and mind from being consumed by anxiety.

But it doesn't fall from heaven automatically. Paul wrote this promise right after talking about praying with thanksgiving, about bringing our requests to God. Peace comes as the fruit of a real conversation with Him.

What conversation do you need to have with God today so that peace can guard your heart?

Prayer

Lord, I need Your peace — the kind that doesn't make sense, that goes beyond what I can understand. Guard my heart and my mind today. Amen.
