Day 209 — Closer to God — 365 Days
The Heart That Comes Home
“But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.”
Luke 15:20b
The parable of the prodigal son is the most beautiful story in the Bible about returning — about what happens when someone who left decides to come back. And what's most striking isn't the son returning — it's the father running.
The father saw him while he was still far off. He had been waiting. He had been watching the horizon. And when he saw that familiar silhouette, he didn't wait for his son to arrive with a rehearsed speech of repentance. He ran. He embraced him. He kissed him.
Before he even heard what his son had to say.
If you feel like you've drifted away from God — through pain, silence, anger, or exhaustion — know that He is watching for you while you are still far off. He isn't waiting for you to have everything figured out before you return. He is ready to run to meet you the moment you turn toward Him.
Prayer
Father, here I am. I've come back. I don't know if I have the right words. But I am coming back. Run to meet me. Amen.
