Day 159 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Free From Anxiety
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Philippians 4:6
Paul wrote this from inside a prison. Have you thought about that? He wasn't on a peaceful spiritual retreat — he was locked up. And even so, he says: don't worry about anything, bring everything to God in prayer.
That changes everything. Paul wasn't being naive about how hard life can be. He was testifying out loud that there is a place where anxiety loses its power: before the throne of God.
When you bring your worry into prayer — when you open your mouth and name the fear, the uncertainty, the thing that's weighing on you — something happens. It isn't magic. It's that you stop carrying it alone. You transfer the weight onto shoulders that can bear anything.
The verse ends with a promise: the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart. It isn't the peace that comes once everything is resolved. It's the peace that comes before, while you're still waiting. That's the peace the world cannot give.
Prayer
Lord, I hand my anxiety over to You today. Every worry that's weighing on me, every fear I can't let go of — I place it all in Your hands. Give me Your peace. Amen.
