Day 145 — Closer to God — 365 Days
Love That Never Shames
“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”
Romans 5:5
There's a specific kind of shame that comes when you've waited on God and nothing seemed to happen. When you prayed and silence was the answer. When you trusted and the situation got worse.
Paul writes to people who knew that kind of waiting. And he says: hope does not put us to shame. Not because we always get the outcome we wanted, but because the love of God has already been poured out within us.
The love is inside. Not out there, dependent on favorable circumstances. The Holy Spirit brought it into the heart.
This means you can wait without shame. You can trust without visible guarantees. Because the love that sustains you isn't outside your heart — it's within, constant, real.
You can wait with dignity. Because hope in the love of God will never end in humiliation.
Prayer
Lord, when the waiting is long and the silence grows heavy, remind me of Your love poured out within me. Let me wait in peace, not in shame. Amen.
